Misquoting Nelson Mandela ‘Your Anemone Is Not My Anemone’

Updated: Jan 28, 2021

ROBBEN ISLAND, SOUTH AFRICA - Tour guide Friedrich Smutz DaVutz was wrapping up his 3:30 showing of Robben Island and it’s apartheid era maximum security prison when he uncovered what analysts believe to be a lost journal from the late South African President Nelson Mandela- who spent 18 of his 27 years in prison atop the rocky island shores.

If handwriting assessments return positive, the newly discovered journal might reveal an unseen side of Mandela, potentially unraveling a different view on the famous response Mandela returned to an unamused U.S. assembly when challenged about his allyships with Castro, Gaddafi and other non-CIA established leaders, in order to defeat an abusive, segregated South Africa. “Your enemies are not necessarily my enemies.” Mandela had proudly confessed.

The journal is said to be filled with complex and highly detailed illustrations of sea anemones alongside divisive remarks on the symbiotic relationships between the anemone’s cnidocyte laced tentacles and the toxin immune fish that rest in it's safety. Sunburnt’s Board of Amateur Political Theorists believe potential metaphors for relationships between unjust governments, citizens and society lie within the pages of tentacles.
